Ping's Pigeons

Back in early 2005 when I was introduced to pigeon racing, the first thing I did was to sell all my fancy pigeons and bought myself two squabs in Bocaue. Around July of that year my friend told me there will be a special pooling before GWRPA training starts. I don't remember where exactly but its somewhere in Pangasinan. I entered the two pigeons i bought in Bocaue. I remember feeling so nervous as they were explaining to me what I will do in case my pigeon comes home the next day. I will admit I think I didn't sleep well that night. Madilim pa bumangon na ko nag aabang sa labas as if dadating ng ganung oras yung kalapati ha ha. I was sitting in front of my loft when my dad saw me and asked  what I was doing. When I told him I was waiting for my birds to come home from Pangasinan, "makakauwi ba yun?", as if to answer his question, both of my pigeons suddenlly made an appearance. I swear I think my heart skipped  a beat. Call it beginner's luck but I won 1st and

     In my previous blog entry, I wrote about some of my achievements. One of those was the fact that I was lucky enough to get a trophy in all the clubs I did join. This year I was able to better that, because of Trina's 15th overall finish in MMFC, I now  have an overall in all the clubs I played for. I just hope that I can have a higher placement in MMFC in the near future. Crossing my fingers he he.      Early this year wala naman sa plans ko lumipad sa MMFC, my good friend forced me to buy at least one set of rings para daw me kasama sya. Out of the four rings, tatlo lang nakarating sa derby proper, namatay yung isa. Smooth sailing naman yung training natapos  nung tatlo kaya lang nung 1st lap which is Cauayan dalawa lang nag clock, yung barako hapon na umuwi. At this time me humingi sakin ng donation para sa auction, i donated him, that left me with two live birds, both hen. Pag dating ng Tuguegarao, isa na lang live ko, as usual kikibot kibot na naman lagi na lang isa natitira sakin. Nung loading ng Laoag, nakawala pa yung live bird ko sa training box that got me thinking, napaka bwenas ko kung di ko sya nahuli bokya ako ngayon he he. After ng Laoag race naglabas ang MMFC ng overall, 11th overall ako. At this time my warrior got me a little worried kasi di ko naibalik yung bigat ng katawan nya.      Last lap na next week, I was so suppose to wait for it bago ako mag update, but what the heck. I was actually worried the whole week. My warrior is kinda heavy from the start pero pag kauwi nya ng Laoag ang gaan na nya. Yung gaang nya nakakapanibago as in magaan talaga. Pinagiisip tuloy ako kung kakayanin nya yung Aparri, although wala naman ako nakitang change sa appearance saka sa galaw nya. Last Sunday was so intense, sobra init. From Cauayan to Laoag my baby clocked at 1,000 consistently, but this is different kasi Aparri na to. So when she didn't arrive at my expected time na tense na ko. Kumakabog dibdib ko sa nerbyos. De635 and Pinky were also consistent pero 900 pababa speed nila lagi. My yb was different kasi 1k sya lagi. Baka pag di sya nag clock around that speed she might not make it. Plus there are reports already na konti pa lang nagpapauwi. My cut off was around 4:30 yata so when it was past 3 na i was losing hope. Suddently me kalapati nag dive tapos lumipad

     It was a typical Friday, at around 7 p.m. I went to my loft to get my warrior. I used my smallest training box kasi isa na lang naman ibon ko ilo-load. I placed the training box on top of the table sa terrace and went inside. I was in my room when i heard my mom shouting "Ping yung kalapate mo nakawala!!! I run out and when I saw my pigeon standing outside the training box, i froze. I don't know how long I stood still but when I snapped out of it I thought of turning off all the lights. Caught her, and clocked Laoag at around 12:39 on my clock. Oh di ba ha ha

     I celebrated my birthday last September 11, it was a friday. The next morning my uncle, who was working on my car for the past three weeks called and told me that i only needed to replace the thermostat and its good to go. So excitedly i went to the shop to get the sample. While i was there i dropped my phone and the glass broke. I think that signaled the string of bad luck that will happen to me the whole day. So without a working phone i went to Banaue to buy the parts i needed. My mom told me buy na lang the next day it's Saturday baka ma traffic ka lang, ayun na nga, ginabi na ko sa NLEX sobrang traffic bumagsak pa ke lakas lakas na ulan. Gabi na ko nakauwi di ako nakarating ng Banaue. Sabi ko takbo ako sa SM papagawa ko phone ko mag momotor na lang kako ako, when i went to get my motorbike, flat!!! Is this really happening? Nag commute na lang ako papunta, when i got there inikot ko yung mall, i got the same answer, they can't fix it wala silang parts. So i decided

     Kung naging babae ka naiba kaya lipad mo? I flew off colors this season but only one survived, him. I wrote about him in my past blog entry, He clocked Santiago and Ilagan of BFRC then came home the following day from Tuguegarao. And since nagbutas na sya i flew him sa GWRPA na nag start naman ang old bird category the following week sa Tuguegarao ulit, clock sya. Typhoon Lando came na cancel lahat ng race which is supposed to be Aparri lap. Sta Ana lap was a disaster ubos ang kalapati, three of my live warriors failed to come home, I waited till Monday pero wala talaga. Out of the three I was expecting my opal na makakauwi kasi nakaranas na sya umuwi ng kinabukasan, usually pag naka experience ang kalapati ng ganun mas me tendency talaga makauwi. When i came home from the office Tuesday gabi na, when i opened my loft tumatakbo opal ko sakin gutom na gutom. Ahhh he made it home. Wow opal ko Sta. Ana finisher, di naman mataas expectations ko sa mga off colors ko. Next time i'

Last Sunday was very humbling, it took one smash for me to get down to just one live bird, sa GWRPA walang nakauwi sa tatlong live ko.  Almost 8 a.m. na na release sa Sta. Ana kaya given na magkakaubusan talaga. Last week maganda pa result ko nag 12th pa sa Ilagan lap yung yb ko (shown on pic) sa MMFC, but she failed to clock last Sunday sa Tuguegarao. Since i hate flying birds na me butas na sa race im going to race her sa BFRC invitational race sa Sta. Ana on Sunday, and if she comes home sa Babuyan invitational ng GWRPA the following week. Now my only live bird sa MMFC please be like your sister and win this race, please....

Tapos ang career ko sa BFRC North Race, di na nakauwi yung anak ng barless sa Gataran. Walang nagyari sa lipad ng mga off-colors ko, pero me konti pag asa pa kasi start naman ng old bird sa GWRPA sa Tuguegarao nag clock naman yung opal. Me off color category pero di ko na isali yung tatlo ko kailangan daw i load ng Ilagan which i find weird, ginawang training yung Ilagan, ha ha. So last week sa 1st lap ng MMFC i placed 18th out of 2,474 young birds sa Cauayan lap. This week live bird pa rin yung dalawa ko sa MMFC, dinonate ko yung na cutoff sa auction, plus hate ko maglaban ng me butas na so no love lost there. Sa GWRPA halos sunod sunod dumating yung dalawang young bird saka yung oldbird ko. Everytime i would clocked i kept receiving the same message na unregistered yung number ko. Glad i checked kasi sa ibang number pala ako nag se send kaya medyo nabawasan ang speed ng ibon pero ok lang importante live pa rin.

Ang hirap maglagare sa tatlong club, lagare sa clocking, i flew 2 young birds sa GWRPA, 3 young birds sa MMFC, and 2 youngs birds sa BFRC. First lap ng GWRPA sa Ilagan i was lucky to clock both, ang MMFC sa Cauayan 2 out of 3, while sa BFRC 1 out of 2. Yung dalawang di ko na clock parehong barako, Mabigat talaga pauwi ko pag barako gamit ko he he.

Kung last week smash, smash na naman ngayon. Walang 50% ang nag clock ng Ilagan. Nag improve yung clock ng anak ng barless ko, 910.970 clock nya last week 800 plus lang. Parang repeat lang nangyari sa opal ko last week 700 lang ulit speed nya. I don't know why nung nag start derby sa poste ng meralco na sya dumadapo, kinakabahan ako kasi medyo malayo yung poste tapos malapit sa cutoff ang uwi nya so medyo delikado ma cutoff.      This year i was very excited because i'm flying my off colors for the 1st time. Bayombong yung huling training pero smash sya, di nakauwi yung pure white ko, I was left with 3 warriors, isang opal, yellow and isang anak ng barless. Loading ng derby masama na kutob ko sa yellow mukang di kakayanin ang Santiago pero I loaded it anyway. Today, September 20, 2015, birds were released at 7:00 A.M., started waiting around 10:00. After one hour wala pa ko ibon, kinakabahan na ko, ano nangyari. around 11:30 i saw my 1st pigeon, yung anak ng barless ko na i clock ko ng 807.587. Tapos wala na ulit  sumunod. Ano nangyari sa opal ko, yung yellow sure ako di makakauwi pero ano nagyari sa opal.      Around 12 P.M. nanood na ko tv, ang cutoff ko 12:18, mukang wala na, nung nag commercial i looked outside, me nakita ako nakadapo sa poste, eto kaya si opal? sumipol ako, nag react sya, OMG si opal nga, na clock ko ng 12:06, 727.800 ang speed. Bakit ganun feeling ko lap winner ha ha.

Pag nanalo ang kalapati mo usually graduate na sila sa race, ginagawa na nating breeders. I was lucky that Pacquaio not only won the championship pero nag produce din sya ng winners. Pero napansin ko di lahat ng winners producer din. In 2008 me anak si Pacquaio nestmate sila, isang cock isang hen. Yung hen nanalo 2nd Overall i named Calbayog Queen, pero yung kapatid nya nabutas ng Sorsogon. After ng race ginawa ko sila parehong breeders. Yung 2nd OA since 2008 hanggang last year wala ginawang maganda lahat ng anak while yung kapatid nya na natalo sa race ilang overall na nabigay sa loft ko. Naisipan ko what if anak ni Calbayog Queen ang gawin kong breeder, which i did, hindi nanalo sa derby yung apo nya pero nag clock ng Mcarthur race, one point. It's De635's turn naman to be a breeder. The first time i used her nawala ng Legaspi yung anak nya, pero i didn't really care much kasi sa history ng emiel ko walain talaga mga barako. Pero ginamit ko naman breeder yung ini

When De635 laid an egg the day before the Mcarthur loading, it was a nightmare. Little did I know it would lead to a dream come true.  For so many years i wanted to snatch my second championship. Ang daming muntikan na, i almost had it with Calbayog Queen when she finished 2nd O.A. back in 2008 losing to a mere 7 points sa overall ranking. It was heartbreaking for me, 2nd overall ako nun pero instead of being happy i was very sad at that time. Siningsingan ko ng BFRC ring si Macky pero di ko sya nilaban. I had other plans for him, and it was good. Unang anak pa lang nya sakin Solo Champion agad binigay. I hope it won't be the last. Macky ha?

 Looking back i made some cool records for my self in pigeon racing, let me see: 1. I'm the first in Bulacan to have clocked 2 years in a row sa PHA McArthur race 2. I won 2 Championships both solo winners (meaning they are the only complete clocking bird in their      category) 3. I have four 12th Overall winners in my loft ha ha, suki. 4. I played for GWRPA, BFRC, SUPRA, MMFC and PHA, and i have a trophy in all five clubs 5. When De635 clocked 1st in Catbalogan, it took 1 hour bago nasundan ng 2nd bird, one hour to this day i still can't get over it 6. When De635 came home from Mcarthur, Leyte, the 1st thing i did was to take a shower and when i reached NLEX saka ko lang sya na clock ha ha, maybe i wasted around 40 minutes. 7. I wasn't really waiting for De635 to come home kasi nangitlog sya nung loading, the egg she laid nabuhay ko i named Macky, na tatay ng 1st Overall Champ ko ng BFRC. 8. When in comes to breeding parang me switch na nag o-on nagiging OCD ako. Di ako mapakali, silip ako ng silip, always checking. Ang dami kong ayaw ang dami kong gusto. Ayaw ko ng barako, ayaw ko ng malaki, gusto ko hen, gusto ko maliit. Thru the years na master ko na pagpili sa hen, kailangan hen lang talaga. Napipilitan lang ako na gamitin yung cock pag naubusan na ko ng time mag breed. That's always the case every year, im actually annoyed sa practice ko pero nakadikit na sa buto ko di ko na kayang baguhin. I would buy 20 rings but i'd end up using only about 10 rings or less, tapos papamigay ko na yung iba. Ganun ako ka aksaya. Minsan nagliligid na yung young bird pero pag di ko talaga type di ko makakatulugan yun. Breeding starts again. Obsessive-compulsive disorder begins.
