My Thoughts Exactly

Back in early 2005 when I was introduced to pigeon racing, the first thing I did was to sell all my fancy pigeons and bought myself two squabs in Bocaue. Around July of that year my friend told me there will be a special pooling before GWRPA training starts. I don't remember where exactly but its somewhere in Pangasinan. I entered the two pigeons i bought in Bocaue. I remember feeling so nervous as they were explaining to me what I will do in case my pigeon comes home the next day. I will admit I think I didn't sleep well that night. Madilim pa bumangon na ko nag aabang sa labas as if dadating ng ganung oras yung kalapati ha ha. I was sitting in front of my loft when my dad saw me and asked  what I was doing. When I told him I was waiting for my birds to come home from Pangasinan, "makakauwi ba yun?", as if to answer his question, both of my pigeons suddenlly made an appearance. I swear I think my heart skipped  a beat. Call it beginner's luck but I won 1st and 3rd. Boy oh boy ganun lang ba kadali yun? Or so I thought. Training starts and I thought madali lang pala. Then Santiago training came, oh wait asan na yung kalapati ko bakit wala pa? Ang lintek 4 p.m. na nakauwi. Suddenly its not as easy as I thought. Next loading start na ng race proper, Ilagan. When I arrived at the loading station, my friend asked me sinubuan mo na ba ng gamot yan? Ha? Anong gamot? patay tayo dyan. Supra? brewer's yeast? I looked at him and he may as well be speaking in a foreign languange kasi wala ako naiintindihan sa sinasabi nya. Ano yun? Pampalakas daw yun para umuwi kalapati? O kaya pala alas kwatro na umuwi kalapati ko ng Santiago wala ako sinusubong gamot. I'm actually embarassed to write about this but it was already late saan ako bibili ng mga ganun. I was so confused, di ko talaga alam gagawin ko, suddenly I thought Mercury, ha ha. While I was there nakita ko poster ng pharmaton, pampalakas daw ha ha. I bought two tablets sinubo ko sa kalapati. I told my friend oy bumili ako 2 pharmaton sinubo ko sa kalapati, "Naku di na makakauwi yan bakit yun sinubo mo?" Oh my goodness, di ko alam wala pala ako kaalam alam. True enough di nga sya nag clock. That failure started something in me. I started reading about pigeons, pero mostly I would read about programs sa ibang bansa, pwede ba dito yun? Pag nakakarining  ako me inuman daw mga nangangalapati, I would find a way to be there. That's my chance to ask questions. I did loft visits for a time, fishing out informations about their programs. Lagi ko nga naiisip ang swerte ng mga newbies today facebook lang masasagot na tanong nila, before you really have to make an effort para matuto ka. And whoever coined the word gift bird is a genius. Dati wala nun, bibili ka. Pero I'm glad I went through that. Mas na appreaciate ko kung nasan ako ngayon.

What you had achieved is the fruit of your long experience in pigeon racing. Add to that is your long investment in terms of time, money and effort to learn and understand the sport. I believe in the saying that perseverance can tip the scale from failure to success. And pigeon racing is not an overnight learning. You have to endure a lot of failure before you succeed and become a seasoned fancier. Years and years of trials and errors until you obtain the winning combination ( birds)
Mabuhay ka ping in this sport ! Looking forward kami in this coming south race.
